Formed in 2011, the Oakridge Wine Club is run by Paul Hunt and Tony Salmon and meets on the 3rd Wednesday of the month in the back room of the Butchers Arms pub in Oakridge to taste, learn about, appreciate and score a mix of red and white wines.
We set the themes around 6 months in advance and are always happy to include ideas from the membership. Mostly the evenings are presented by Paul and Tony but other members occasionally present the evening. We will sometimes invite an outside speaker, for example a local wine merchant or vineyard, but there is never a “hard sell” just the chance to try something different and learn something new. We have a meal at the Christmas meeting and plan to have a trip in lieu of one of the summer meetings. We do not normally meet in August.
Simple nibbles of cheese and biscuits are provided but occasionally something more elaborate will be provided to fit in with the theme for the evening.
